A LEARNING COMMUNITY
We dream about creating a learning community of engaged people, who are building Islands of Hope, where people live in harmony with nature, themselves and each other.
The Sprouts offer an educational programme with transformative courses for ecological, social and personal change. We apply a range of teachings and learning methods, varying from lectures to reflective inquiry, with an emphasis on action in the participants’ own lives. The connection with nature is at the heart of all courses while there is always a focus on how to be and act in a changing world. We are convinced that these competences are key to build a sustainable future.
"In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.”
(Baba Dioum, Senegalese forestry engineer)

L’ARBRE QUI POUSSE
L'Arbre qui pousse is a collective educational farm. Nestled in the heart of Brabant Wallon, in Ottignies, it brings together craftswomen, market gardeners, trainers, apprentices and local residents, young and old, on a daily basis. It's also a meeting place, hosting conferences, training courses and festive events. Learning, growing, cultivating, passing on, fertilising, taking action and raising awareness... the ecosystem is designed to be regenerative and vibrant.
The farm is first and foremost a laboratory for living together, a learning and entrepreneurial community, a beehive in transition designed to encourage dreams to blossom and ideas to flourish. Beyond the encounters and regeneration, l'Arbre qui Pousse's mission is to shine as a collective micro-farm to inspire others. The dream of l'Arbre matured over many months around the idea of an eco-environment. A community of actors, followers and supporters came together, driven by the same creative spirit.
Since 2021, it is in this spirit that the Schumacher Sprouts have been progressively anchored in this rich and vibrant community, making their contribution in the form of events, activities and educational proposals.
FROIDEFONTAINE FARM
We planted the first seed at Froidefontaine Farm, in the beautiful countryside of the Condroz region. This agroecological farm provides an innovative model for the development of human-scale farmers. We would like to honour these activities by creating close interactions with the courses we offer. It is our vision that the combination of our holistic approach to education and the hands-on approach of the farm’s activities will contribute to the essential balance between our heads, our hearts and our hands.
