Earth Celebration 2026 – Crossed Perspectives on Ways of Inhabiting the Earth
26 August 2026 (5 pm) at l’Arbre qui Pousse
On 26 August at l’Arbre qui Pousse, as part of our Earth Celebration, we will welcome Eric Julien, geographer and founder of Tchendukua, and Olivier Servais, historian and anthropologist at UCLouvain. Together, they will weave together the cosmologies of the Kogis of the Sierra Nevada and the First Peoples of the Yukon to shed new light on the transformations of the Earth system. A conference designed to question the ways we inhabit the world and to open pathways of emancipation in the face of contemporary crises.

Deep Time Walk & Transition Pedagogy in Higher Education
On 28 September 2026, we invite professors and trainers in higher education to a full day of pedagogical exploration: new tools, embodied practices, and the Deep Time Walk, to rethink higher education in a world undergoing transition. An invitation to experiment, imagine, and evolve one’s courses within a dynamic and ever‑moving educational landscape.
Conference – From the Big Bang to Our Lives. Being Human in an Evolving Universe

For his first visit to Belgium, Brian Swimme will explore the question he has been working on for fifty years. He will invite us to revisit the 14 billion years of cosmic history in order to better understand the moment we are living through, the singular place of human beings in the last millisecond of the universe’s story, and the transformations of consciousness needed to reinvent our relationship with the living Earth.
Sur les Sentiers du Vivant - Itinerant workshop “the work that reconnects”
12–16 September 2026 with Laurence Gilliot and Aurèle Destrée along the Lesse River
Guided by the Work That Reconnects (developed by Joanna Macy), we will engage in an exploration of our changing and unpredictable world, travelling on foot along the Lesse. Acknowledging what is unfolding, welcoming our emotions, cultivating resilience, imagining the “world to come,” all while staying anchored in the present moment and weaving ourselves back into the living world.

Public Deep Time Walk

A Deep Time Walk (DTW), also called a Deep Time Walk, is a transformative journey across 4.6 billion years of Earth’s history…
It is a narrated walk of 4.6 km, where each meter corresponds to one million years. This experience turns time into space and invites participants to perceive the world differently.
Resilience Walk
November 11th in Tervuren, 9-13
A reflective walk around resilience, in the heart of the magnificent Forêt de Soignes. Come and enjoy this half-day experience where we slow down together, with the intention of feeling-thinking what resilience means for us, individually and collectively.
This walk is linked to the discovery of the ‘learning journey: walking to transform the way we learn, work and collaborate’. It can be experienced as such or as a way of discovering facilitation in action.
HEAD - HEART - HANDS
Our courses offer singular experiences which embrace the holistic principle « head, heart and hands », meaning than we learn connecting our hands, hearts as well as heads. This happens in the classroom, in the gardens and in the kitchen, it is part of everything we do. Our teachers are invited to share their passion in a way that interweaves with this balance in order to create a unique learning experience.
The following courses emerged from our discussions, passion, encounters and experiences. Anyone is welcome to make propositions for new courses. What we offer is to host in accordance with our values and philosophy.
Above all, the Schumacher Sprouts are an open learning community.
